Profile: Mark Morris is a highly creative and team-oriented filmmaker and social worker who has been creating stories using film and video for twenty-five years, including ten years as a university cinema professor. Mark offers a unique combination of classroom and organizational experience which can be applied to any part of the process of research, organizing, analysis and presentation.
As a Filmmaker and Digital Video Storyteller since 1979, Mark has created two dozen works, including award-winning narrative shorts, documentaries, commercials, and web videos. Mark offers logistical and human management skills derived from his experiences as production manager and location manager on three feature films.
While a professor at the University of New Orleans, Mark made nearly 2000 classroom presentations. Among other subjects, he has taught writing, public speaking, and production planning. Teaching at several public universities and counseling for Catholic Charities for St. Charles public schools have given Mark extensive experience with teachers, students, and low and moderate-income families. He recently worked for Bridge House, a residential treatment facility for adult men with addictions.
Mark has expansive additional experience in acting, directing, and news. As a screenwriter in Los Angeles for over a decade, Mark has developed a well-honed use of written language. Mark has worked the public sector - federal, state, and local government. In addition to his M.S.W. from Tulane and M.F.A. from U.S.C.’s School of Cinema-TV, Mark graduated with honors from Brown University, where he studied systems of change in a self-designed major which included micro and macro economics.
Mark offers in-depth video analysis informed by his social work training, rather than the more common path of those who tack video skills on later. Mark is diligent and hard working, bringing the combination of humor, creativity, and a willingness to learn to every situation.
Specialties:
Mark is interested in innovative design: prototyping, mining creativity, team building, business anthropology, change management, cultural uptake, corporate research, training, human dynamics, and any form of filmmaking from writing to editing. Mark is particularly skilled as an editor, director, and writer. Mark draws from his experience as a producer, still photographer, actor, story analyst, and screenwriter. He is also a therapist and community-builder with a strong business acumen.
