Ok, let's say, I have a 1 second Cross Fade in my Sequence on a bunch of shots. I decide I want that to be a 15 frame (1/2 second long) Cross Fade (or Dip To Color, or any other transition). This trick will help change multiple transition durations, or types, or both!

1- Create A Favorite Custom Transition
First I want to replace all of these with a 15 frame long Cross Fade. So in the Browser, in the Effects tab, I drag the standard Cross Fade transition into my Favorites bin. I rename it "Cross Fade 15 frm", then with it highlighted, I can scroll across the Browser heading to it's right until I find the "Duration" column, and in there, click and change it's default duration to "00:00:00;15". As a side note, I have three default Cross Fades in my Favorites bin (inside a "Cross Fades" folder there), set to 2 seconds, 1 second, and 15 frames in duration, and named appropriately. I use these duration of CF transitions a lot. If you use a specific transition a lot, or a modified version of a transition a lot, do yourself a huge favor and make it a favorite!

2- Highlight All Transitions To Be Replaced
Now, I want to do is be in my Timeline window, and hit "cmd+F" to pull up the Find window. In it I'll type "cross", as it will search clips and transitions alike. I hit "Find All", and it highlights everything with "cross" in the name, specifically, all my 1 second Cross Fades.

3- Lock Audio Tracks If Desired
Next, I don't want to change my audio track transitions, so I'll lock my audio tracks. Or if I keep them unlocked, their duration will change, also. Which ever you want, this step is up to you.

4- Replace All Selected Transtions At Once
And here's the trick, I'm in my Timeline window with all my Cross Fades highlighted. But I can't simply drag and drop the 15 second transition from the Browser window, as it'll only replace the one single transition I physically I drop it on. But I can go to the Effects menu, to Favorites (right under Video Transitions), and select my "Cross Fade 15 frm", and poof, ALL of my highlighted 1 second Cross Fadess are now my custom 15 frame Cross Fades! See, sometimes drag and drop is not the answer, as the Effects menu behaves slightly differently than drag and drop. Depends on which one works best for your specific situation at the time.

5- Be Amazed At How Cool FCP Is!
Cool, eh? Think of how many other uses for the Find, Favorites, and Effects Menu functions you can figure out!

Did you mean FPS? Because 15 seconds is a looooong crossfade :)

That is an awesome tip about changing them all. I learned something new again!

Sorry, meant "15 Frames", not seconds, just 15 frames, half a second. Oops, my bad... Got it fixed!!!
