I hope this doesn't seem like a dumb question, but is this familiar to anyone? I have purchased the Flip 4 Mac upgrade and Quicktime Pro in order to have the option to export movies in WMV format. I have entered the serial keys (correctly) and I am still unable to select option to export in/for WMV. In case it matters, I am using either FCE or iMovie '08 and my operating system is Leopard.

Thanks, Susan

I'm going to just ask, some of these may be dum questions, but I have to ask anyway...

So, you go to Export Using QuickTime Conversion, right?
You pull up the list of codecs to chose from, and there's no "WMV", or "Movie To Windows", or "Windows Media"? It's not the Options for "QuickTime Movie", it's separate from that.

Go to the Apple menu (looks like an Apple logo, top left of your screen), then to your System Preferences, and you should see a Flip4Mac preference icon at the bottom. Click it, and to to the Upgrade (not Update) tab. Do you see your name and S/N there?

Yes and yes. I have S/N's for both Flip 4Mac and Quicktime pro. There is no Windows anything option. I don't get it : (

Ok, I don't really know iMovie, so let's concentrate on Final Cut Express. You go to Export, then to Using QuickTime Conversion". In that window, in the "Format:" pop up menu, at least in Final Cut Pro, the third option from the time says "Windows Media".

You're not click on the Options button for "QuickTime Movie" are you?

No to " You're not click on the Options button for "QuickTime Movie" are you?"

And the only thing that starts with "W" in the format pop up menu is "wave"

Ok, never heard of this one before... um... let's see... hhmmmm...

Do this, open a movie file in QuickTime Player, go to Export, and see if you have a Windows Media option of any sort there.

If not, run Disk Utility. If you're not familiar with it, I can tell you what do to, then reboot the Mac. Then re-check. If it's still not there, we'll hit Telestream with this one.

What version of FCE are you running, what version of QuickTime Pro?

Okay, that didn't work either. I can run Disk Utility, but I don't know how to.
my version of Quicktime Pro is 7.4.5, and FCE is 4.0.

I found disk utility under finder> services. But i don't know what to choose.

CHOSE LIFE!

Just kidding... Ok, in Disk Utility, for your system drive, you run "Repair Permissions", and for all other disks, you run "Repair Disk".

I'll see if I can find any thing about your problem in the mean time. Very odd...

Ok, I think if that doesn't work, we'll do a reinstall. There's supposed to be (I am told) an uninstall utility in the Flip4Mac folder. Run it, the reboot your Mac, then reinstall it, and after you put your S/N in, run Disk Utility and Repair Permissions on your system drive. Seems that Telestream is having some glitches with installs on Leopard Intel Macs. See if that'll take care of it.

I'm always thrilled when we get a problem solved quickly! Hooray!!!!

So what exactly did you have to do? Was it Disk Utility, or did you have to do a reinstall?
