Is there any intrim storage device out there that is not to expensive that I can off-load HD footage from an FS-store 100 to storage to free up space on FS-store for next shot.. I do not have poratable laptop for this?
Where a good place to get Mini DV tapes around town?

The only solution is to plug the FS-100 into a computer (Mac or PC) and copy the files off. Or use two FS-100's together. How much time do you have to record total?

Try these two web sites for bulk tape purchases (it's much cheaper than getting a single pack at a time from K-Mart or Wal-Mart).

And when you stick that first tape into a new camera, never use another brand again, stick to that brand! Panasonic makes the best tapes around, even for non-Panny cams.

Ah, Crescent Communications. "Crescent Video" is a wedding video business in Austin, TX. Yeah, I know what you're talking about now.

If you by on-line in bulk, it's MUCH cheaper, too. More like $3.49 each. Here's what I get:

I have been waiting on a quote for a very expensive camera and monitor order with Crescent Communications for weeks, they still won't reply to me. I'm loosing my religion for them...

Hi, Steph:

We recently purchased a large order of Mini-DV tapes from Visual Interactive Dynamics (weird name) at http://www.vidinc.net/.

If I correctly recall, we got our cost down to $2.40ish per Mini-DV tape (PANASONIC AYDVM63PQ) in a bulk order. However, I've noticed they are currently priced at $2.95 each with a minimum order of 20 pcs. (http://vid2001.stores.yahoo.net/panay1.html).

Either way, a good Internet cost comparison is always recommended. We chose VID since they are in Houston, TX and the shipping delay would be minimal, outside of purchasing over-the-counter at probably $7-$8/tape.

Good luck!

Wow, Stan, that's an awesome price! What tape was that?

I usually, well, used to when I used tape, get the Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ.

That's the same tape we got - Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ.

However, I should note my business partner just corrected me and we paid $2.95/tape on a bulk order. NOT the $2.40ish I posted.

We had very good success with it.
