I am very glad to have this book. It dramatically enhances my knowledge of color correction. I am especially thankful to have won it at one of our user group meetings. It helps me look at the video / images in a new light.

Yes, it is super valuable. Anyone who wants to make their work really shine in FCP should have a copy of this book! It's written by the same coloring guru who wrote the Color APTS book, too!

Does this book have anything more to offer than the Color APTS book? It's a great book and I've learned a lot from it but does The Encyclopedia of Color Correction have more theory in it? If so I would definitely get a copy pronto!

Kirk,
I would be happy to bring the book to the next meeting for you to review for your self. I am not familiar with the Color APTS book.

Just remind me when the meeting gets closer.
Best Wishes,
Steph

Yes it does. The Color book is mostly just using the tools in Color. The Encyclopedia is all about correction and grading theory, with a DVD full of footage, you can go through the exercises along with the text. And it uses the 3-Way Color Corrector almost exclusively, which makes it more applicable for FCP. It was written well before Apple ever bought Final Touch. But the principles pertain to correction and grading in any app. Very cool book.

I'd say the Color book and this Encyclopedia, along with the Encyclopedia of Visual Effects (I think that's the title, or is it Special Effects?), you'll have a really awesome library/education for starting to do "real" color correction and grading.
