Very interesting, Doris! Thanks for posting. Serious food for thought here.

Why convert it? Why not keep it as DVCAM? I say just keep it as DVCAM-PAL, if that's the native format. Pro Rez is a great codec to work in, but it's mostly used for two reasons. First, if you have mixed formats in your source material and want to...

SATA are the internal drives (you have have up to four in a Mac Pro), and are way faster than FW800. Either way, be sure all drives are 7200rpm.

Set your RT menu to Dynamic for both Video Quality and Frame Rate. The other thing is to go into the User Preferences, turn OFF the "Report Dropped Frames On Playback" option. FCP will in fact drop frames, especially with FW drives, in order to gi...

I'm not sure what Apple has up their sleeves, but they know how big of an impact Shake had on the industry back in it's day. They are bound to replace this with something, and knowing how Apple has handled things in the past, I'm certain that it w...

As you know, or don't, Apple has pulled Shake 4 from it's on-line store (and I assume from it's retail shelves, also), and it's web page at Apple.com now redirects to the Final Cut Studio page. Apple has said nothing about the future of Shake in q...

How do you use Final Cut Studio:
I'm an Apple Certified Trainer for:
Final Cut Pro, Motion Graphics & Effects, DVD Studio Pro, Color, and Final Cut Server.

I'm a retired IT engineer, and still use these skills in my media production IT and creative consulting work.

I also teach at NOVAC's AATC division, and at the Delgado/LTC video program.

I created the "Cut Lines" monthly FCS tutorial column in Event DV magazine, and contribute to Edit Well by Larry Jordan.

When I'm not taking a class or or teaching, I am an independent producer, produce training videos, and enjoy life.

My HVX200 After 2 Years, Taking A Moment To Look Back...

My HVX200 After 2 Years
by Ben Balser

I've been shooting with an HVX200 for about two years now. I love DVCPRO-HD and I love the looks I can get with this camera. After all this time, I find myself in the largest production of my career, and needing to upgrade to a larger, more HD network compatible camera. Thus, I'm reflecting on how this little HVX has served me over the past two years. Of course the big question is do I keep it or sell it? Will it still earn it's keep,… Continue

I wish I could get out more on boats to do some photography. It's pretty hard to get a bad shot in such a beautiful place. Yep, I'm really interested in the CamHandle. Those Lectro receivers are a pain to attach to the camera. We have another type of bracket that works okay, but I don't like it as much. I missed the last couple meetings with all the family and work events going on, but plan to make the next one.
See ya
