so i just finished checking out some of the info apple has posted regarding FCS 3 and i must say that i'm really excited about some of the updates, but i'm still unsure if Motion 4 will have the ability to create 3D text and other gfx. i've always felt it was sort of lacking in that department. sure you can move around 2D text in 3D, but it doesn't do block lettering. any idea if that will be coming?

Motion is not a 3D modeling app, and never has claimed to be. But every new release, it picks up more and more from Shake. And yes, it only does 2D text in 3D space. That's always been made very clear. Although you can give 2D objects a thickness.

3D text is done either in LiveType or in the Boris 3D Text generator in FCP.

I'm sure it's coming for Motion, in my personal opinion, but no one knows for sure, or when.

Here's the hard, fast rule about Apple's new releases, and it's totally true, "Those who know can't say, and those who say don't know."
